Aja Ekadashi - Shravan Vad Ekadashi

King Yudhishthir asked Bhagwan, "O Shree Krishna! What is the name of Ekadashi that falls in Vad fortnight of Shravan. Please narrate its significance to me."

Bhagwan Shree Krishna replied, "O pious king! Shravan Vad Ekadashi is known as 'Aja Ekadashi'. Whoever embarks on Vrat of Aja Ekadashi after worshipping Bhagwan Narayan or listens to this Katha with love and devotion will have all his sins washed away. The Vrat of this Ekadashi leads one on the path of salvation.

Ganesh is Shiva's younger son. He is the giver of the wealth and comfort. Ganesh literally means the leader of the many. He is a very learned demigod. When sage Vyas wanted to write the epic of Mahabharat, he requested Ganesh to be his scribe. At the beginning of every Hindu ritual, Ganesh is worshipped first. Any auspicious occasion is incomplete without worshipping Ganesh. Ganesh is installed outside many Hindu temples even today. Many splendid temples are dedicated to Ganesh.

Parivartini Ekadashi - Bhadarva Sud Ekadashi & Vaman Dwadashi

King Yudhishthir asked Bhagwan, "O Shree Krishna! By what name the Ekadashi falling in the Sud fortnight of the month of Bhadrapad? Please narrate me the Katha of its significance."

Bhagwan Shree Krishna replied, "O King Yudhishthir! Bhadarva Sud Ekadashi is known as Parivartini Ekadashi. Also known as Vaman Ekadashi, it is capable of dispelling all sins and harbinger of good fortune. Fasting on this Ekadashi grants one heaven or Moksha as per devotee's desire. Whoever wishes to uplift himself should observe its Vrat. My devotees worship Bhagwan Vaman on this day, which bring them closer to Me. Bhagwan Narayan, asleep since Devshayani Ekadashi, turns on His side. Therefore this Ekadashi is known as Parivartini Ekadashi."

Indira Ekadashi - Friday 18th September

Indira Ekadashi - Bhadarva Vad Ekadashi

King Yudhishthir asked "O Shree Krishna! Please tell me the name of and narrate to me the significance of the Ekadashi which falls in the Vad fortnight of the month of Bhadrapad."

Bhagwan Shree Krishna replied, "O king Yudhishthir! Bhadarvo Vad Ekadashi is known as 'Indira Ekadashi'. Observing its Vrat including fasting and Jagran dispels the great sins. The ancestors consigned to hell are released and go to heaven or Akshardham if Punys of Vrat of Indira Ekadshi is offered to them. Those who listen attentively to Mahatmya of Indira Ekadashi earn Punya equal to performing a Vajpayee Yagna.
