GCSE 2020

Message to Candidates

Jay Shree Swaminarayan

Congratulations to all candidates who received a GCSE Gujarati grade this year. It was yet another excellent set of results, which included two 9 grades (equivalent of A**), one 8 grade (equivalent of A*), and five 7 grades (equivalent of A). Well done to all the candidates and thank you for your hard work in maintaining the high standards we look to achieve at the School.

Not only was this year the first GCSE Gujarati exam series under the new syllabus and with a new Exam Board, but we were also faced with the global COVID-19 pandemic, which meant that candidates did not sit the exams and have been awarded Centre assessed grades. Using Centre assessed grades seems a much fairer representation of the candidate’s abilities than the algorithmic standardisation process that was first proposed, and the resultant distress that was caused in the A’level results last week.

An electronic copy of the Statements of Results will be sent to the parent email address that was provided on the application form. If you have not received the Statement of Result by the end of day Thursday 20 August, please email us at gujaratischool@shreeswaminarayan.org.uk

On behalf of all the staff at the Gujarati School, we wish you the best of luck in your future endeavours.

Head of Centre
