PashanKusha Ekadashi - Saturday 20th October

PashanKusha Ekadashi - Aso Sud Ekadashi

King Yudhishthir asked Bhagwan, "O Shree Krishna! Please tell me the name and significance of the Ekadashi that falls in the Sud fortnight of Aso."

Shree Krishna Bhagwan replied, "O king! This Ekadashi is known as 'PashanKusha Ekadashi', Vrat of which dispels all sins. Bhagwan Narayan's another form, Bhagwan Padnabh should be worshipped on this Ekadashi.

Bhagwan Padnabh's worship fulfils one's all worldly desires. Bowing to Bhagwan Narayan and observing fast today dispels all sins committed inadvertently and one is saved from sufferings of heel upon his death; and chanting His name today is rewarded with Punya equivalent to visiting all places of pilgrimage. Indeed, Punya earned by performing thousand Ashvamedh Yagna and innumerable Rajsuya Yagna is less than one sixteenth of Punya earned by observing Vrat of PashanKusha Ekadashi. Vrat of this Ekadashi bestows one with all material comforts, physical wellbeing, enhanced wealth and prosperity and Moksha. A devotee goes to Bhagwan's supreme abode without much effort if he observes fast during day and undertakes Jagran singing Kirtans or chanting His name. O King Yudhishthir! One is able to redeem ten generations of ancestors of both his parents and his wife by observing the Vrat of this holy Ekadashi. Besides, he goes to Vaikunth upon his death riding His golden eagle - Garud. The devotee also gets a divine body with four arms adorned with golden robes and gold ornaments. Even a sinner is not consigned to hell if he observes Vrat of this Ekadashi. Even financially poor person can observe this Vrat by giving alms as per his capacity to Brahmins following Snaan and Sandhya. Moreover, anyone who builds shelters, gardens, wells and ponds for the benefit of pilgrims does never see Yamdoots."

This Mahatmya of PashanKusha Ekadashi is narrated in the Brahmand Puran.
