First Est. 1973 - Rebuilt in 1993 - Shree Kutch Satsang Swaminarayan Temple Bolton (Under Shree Nar-Narayan Dev Temple Bhuj Kutch - India) is the 1st orthodox purpose built Swaminarayan Mandir to be built both in the UK, and Europe.
The Murtis in Swaminarayan temples are relative to under which Gadi they come in. First Shree Sahajanand Swami - Our Ishtadev, The God to whom the Temple is dedicated to. Second Nar Narayan Dev - Is the representation of our Gadi (Nar Narayan Dev Gadi, Ahmedabad). Third Radha Krishna - Shree Sahajanad Swami's favourite form. Forth Hanumanji - Bhagwan Swaminarayan's Kuldev (household deity), Ideal devotee of God, Kashta Bhanjan (remover of problems/obstacles). Fifth Ganpatiji - Vighna Vinayak (God of good fortune), first invited deity at all religious ceremonies in the Sanatan Dharma
With its origins stemming from a handful of people searching for a place of worship in a new country, Shree Swaminarayan Temple, Willesden has today become much more than one of the biggest Hindu Temples in Europe. From humble beginnings, it has grown to become an inspiration to thousands, keeping our culture, music and language alive with the hint of the British lifestyle we have grown up with. It continues to teach the core foundations of our religion; compassion, thirst for knowledge, morality, and respect for all human beings. As an important part of the local community, Willesden Temple has become a place where lifelong friendships have been made.
As a community we encourage all our Temple visitors to car share, walk or use public transport where possible.
